After weeks of saying "We are going to make a headboard this week," we finally did it!! We couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It took a bit of time, just because we both didn't know what we were doing really. haha We started off by going to Home Depot and getting plywood. They cut it down to the sizes we measured. We then went to a fabric store, got some batting and a couple yards of black upholstery fabric. Luckily Cam's uncle use to do upholstery and had the tacks, nail trim, tools, AND extra batting which was SO helpful to have! We took over the Pearsons' gym and started making a headboard!
We started by spraying the board with glue then laying the batting - repeated that 3 times. We then flipped over the board onto the back of the fabric that was already layed out. We pulled the fabric over the wood and stapled it all the way around. And VoILA! The pic below is what it looks like after that is done.
We started on the shorter edges with the nail trim. It helps a TON because you only tack it down every 4th nail.
Cam was a HuGe help. It was fun to finally do our project together too :)
After it was all done we took it home and hung it with a french cleat.
We also saved a lot of money! Our headboard=$70. Buying it through a furniture store for a king bed= $600
